Evidence is strongest for antibiotic-associated diarrhoea, infectious diarrhoea in children, and some IBS symptoms. Effects are strain-specific, so a generic "probiotic" may do nothing for your particular condition.
Evidence is reasonable for reducing antibiotic-associated diarrhoea, with Saccharomyces boulardii and certain Lactobacillus strains most studied.
Effects are strain-specific, so the label should state the exact strain and CFU count. Take it a couple of hours apart from the antibiotic dose.
