Types of Orchiectomy
Radical inguinal orchiectomy, the standard approach for suspected testicular cancer, removes the testicle and spermatic cord through an incision in the groin to prevent tumor spread through the scrotum. Simple orchiectomy through a scrotal incision is used for non-cancerous conditions or as palliative treatment, and bilateral orchiectomy for prostate cancer removes both testicles to reduce testosterone production.
